Description
The Transfiguration of Christ: a revelation of divine glory
The Transfiguration, recounted in the Synoptic Gospels, takes place when Jesus leads Peter, James, and John up a mountain and is revealed in radiant glory. Moses and Elijah appear beside him, showing that the Law and the Prophets find their fulfillment in Christ. The Father’s voice commands the disciples to listen to the beloved Son, preparing them to face the scandal of the Cross.
Iconography and theological meaning
Christ stands in white at the center of a blue, star-shaped mandorla, blessing with one hand as rays of light descend toward the apostles. Elijah and Moses flank him on separate peaks, while Peter, James, and John fall below in awe. The sharp geometry and gold field make uncreated light the theological center of the composition.
For prayer and Christian devotion
This icon supports prayer for clarity, hope, and the ability to recognize Christ’s presence in times of change. It is especially appropriate for retreats, discernment, and meditation on the relationship between glory, suffering, and resurrection.
Crafted on linden wood in Poland
The image is printed directly onto a double-primed linden wood panel and finished with decorative gold leaf. Each made-to-order piece is produced in Poland, includes a certificate with the year of production, and has a hanger on the back. Natural wood, a luminous gold field, and precise contemporary drawing create sacred art suited to a home prayer corner, chapel, rectory, or a carefully chosen Catholic gift.
