Description
The Last Supper: Eucharist, communion, and self-giving love
On the night before his Passion, Christ gathered the Twelve, gave thanks over bread and wine, and commanded them to continue this memorial of his self-offering. The Last Supper is therefore inseparable from the Eucharist, the washing of feet, the commandment of love, and the approaching Cross. It reveals the Church gathered around the Lord who gives himself as food.
Iconography and theological meaning
Christ sits at the head of an oval table within a stylized upper room, surrounded by the apostles in a compact Byzantine composition. His cross-inscribed halo and red mandorla distinguish him as the center of the assembly. The vessel and bread on the table direct attention to the Eucharistic mystery, while the varied gestures of the apostles suggest listening, questioning, and communion.
For prayer and Christian devotion
Fitting for a dining room, chapel, sacristy, or parish hall, this icon encourages gratitude before meals, reverence for the Eucharist, unity within families and communities, and service modeled on Christ.
Crafted on linden wood in Poland
The image is printed directly onto a double-primed linden wood panel and finished with decorative gold leaf. Each made-to-order piece is produced in Poland, includes a certificate with the year of production, and has a hanger on the back. Natural wood, a luminous gold field, and precise contemporary drawing create sacred art suited to a home prayer corner, chapel, rectory, or a carefully chosen Catholic gift.
