Description
Sovereign Mother of God in the Heavenly Court
This sacred image presents Mary and the Christ Child enthroned within a heavenly court. It is a Western devotional composition rather than a standard Byzantine icon type with one fixed historical prototype. Mary wears a crown and holds a scepter while the crowned Child sits on her arm. Angels kneel beside the throne, and cherubs, roses and lilies form an arch above them. The title Sovereign Mother of God refers to Mary's royal dignity as Mother of Christ the King, not to political sovereignty independent of her Son.
Queenship ordered toward Christ
The throne, crowns and scepter use the visual language of a royal court, while the Child remains the theological center of the scene. Roses and lilies traditionally suggest love, purity and Marian devotion; the surrounding angels present the communion of heaven in worship. Catholic teaching understands every honor given to Mary in relation to Christ. The image supports contemplation but does not establish a new doctrine or promise heavenly protection through ownership.
For prayer and reflection on the heavenly kingdom
The reproduction may be placed in a home prayer corner, chapel or parish room for reflection on Christ's kingship and Mary's faithful discipleship. It can be chosen for a Marian feast, wedding, anniversary or house blessing. Veneration is directed to the holy persons represented, not to the material panel.
Crafted on linden wood in Poland
Art Christiana makes this icon in Poland on a carefully prepared linden wood board. The surface receives two primer coats, hand-applied metal leaf and a directly transferred image. A certificate and hanging fixture are fitted on the reverse, and the icon arrives in a protective presentation box.
