Saints Peter and Paul with the Church
Saints Peter and Paul are honored together as principal witnesses to the Gospel and pillars of the apostolic Church. Peter confessed Jesus as the Messiah and received the keys as a sign of pastoral responsibility. Paul, called the Apostle to the Gentiles, carried the Gospel far beyond its first Jewish setting.
