Description
St. Louis-Marie de Montfort — apostle of Marian consecration
St. Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort (1673–1716) was a French priest, missionary preacher, and spiritual writer. He is best known for teaching a Christ-centered consecration to Jesus through Mary, later articulated in works such as True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin and The Secret of the Rosary.
His preaching united Marian devotion, love of the Cross, care for the poor, and the renewal of baptismal promises. He founded the Company of Mary and helped shape a school of spirituality that influenced generations of Catholic believers, including Pope St. John Paul II.
Iconography and theological meaning
The saint holds a crucifix and a rosary, the two clearest signs of his spirituality. The crucifix keeps the mystery of redemption at the center; the rosary indicates sustained meditation on Christ with Mary. His clerical dress recalls an itinerant missionary priest rather than a cloistered scholar, and the halo with gold field translates a historical portrait into sacred imagery.
For prayer and Christian devotion
This icon is particularly meaningful for people making or renewing Marian consecration, Rosary groups, missionaries, priests, and families seeking a disciplined life of prayer. It also makes an informed gift for readers of de Montfort’s writings and for communities dedicated to evangelization.
Crafted on linden wood in Poland
The image is printed directly onto a double-primed linden wood panel and finished with decorative gold leaf. Each made-to-order piece is produced in Poland, includes a certificate with the year of production, and has a hanger on the back. Natural wood, a luminous gold field, and precise contemporary drawing create sacred art suited to a home prayer corner, chapel, rectory, or a carefully chosen Catholic gift.
