Description
Saint Josemaría Escrivá: holiness in ordinary life
Saint Josemaría Escrivá (1902–1975), a Spanish priest and the founder of Opus Dei, taught that every baptized person is called to holiness. Work, family responsibilities, friendship, and service are not obstacles to union with God; offered with love, they become places of prayer and apostolate. His spirituality gives particular dignity to faithful, competent work performed in the middle of the world.
Iconography and theological meaning
The saint appears in black clerical dress beneath an ornate light-colored vestment with gold ornament. A crucifix rests at his chest, while his raised right hand suggests preaching, blessing, and spiritual instruction. His glasses and attentive expression emphasize the priest and teacher who helped laypeople recognize God’s presence in everyday duties. The halo and gold field identify that ordinary life as a genuine path to sanctity.
For prayer and Christian devotion
Especially fitting for an office, study, workshop, or family prayer space, this image supports prayer for integrity at work, perseverance in daily obligations, and the grace to serve God through small things done well.
Crafted on linden wood in Poland
The image is printed directly onto a double-primed linden wood panel and finished with decorative gold leaf. Each made-to-order piece is produced in Poland, includes a certificate with the year of production, and has a hanger on the back. Natural wood, a luminous gold field, and precise contemporary drawing create sacred art suited to a home prayer corner, chapel, rectory, or a carefully chosen Catholic gift.
