Saint John of Dukla: Franciscan preacher and servant of reconciliation

Saint John of Dukla (c. 1414–1484) was a Polish Franciscan friar known as a preacher, confessor, and spiritual guide. He served communities in the region of Lviv and became renowned for disciplined prayer, humility, and patient ministry in the confessional. His life joins Franciscan poverty with a strong Marian devotion and a pastoral concern for unity among Christians.

Iconography and theological meaning

The saint kneels in the brown Franciscan habit with his arms open in prayer. A cord and rosary identify his religious life, while a book and lilies evoke preaching, purity of heart, and disciplined study. Above him, the Virgin Mary appears with the Christ Child, making the composition a visual meditation on Marian intercession rather than a simple portrait.

For prayer and Christian devotion

This image is well suited to prayer for a good confession, reconciliation in divided communities, perseverance in vocation, and deeper trust in Mary’s guidance toward Christ.

Crafted on linden wood in Poland

The image is printed directly onto a double-primed linden wood panel and finished with decorative gold leaf. Each made-to-order piece is produced in Poland, includes a certificate with the year of production, and has a hanger on the back. Natural wood, a luminous gold field, and precise contemporary drawing create sacred art suited to a home prayer corner, chapel, rectory, or a carefully chosen Catholic gift.
