Description

St. Dominic Savio: a young pupil of Don Bosco

St. Dominic Savio (1842-1857) was a pupil of St. John Bosco at the Oratory in Turin. His short life is associated with prayer, the sacraments, care for fellow students, and attention to ordinary duties. He died at fourteen, shortly before his fifteenth birthday, and Pope Pius XII canonized him on June 12, 1954.

The icon portrays Dominic with his hands joined in prayer, wearing a white surplice over red clothing. The youthful face and English name inscription identify him, while the halo presents him as a saint. The altar-server clothing recalls service at the liturgy; Dominic was a lay student, not an ordained priest.

This subject is suited to a child's prayer space, a Catholic school, or a Salesian community. For a First Communion or confirmation gift, it introduces a saint close to the recipient's age and offers a concrete starting point for talking about prayer, friendship, and everyday responsibilities.

Made in Poland on linden wood

Art Christiana makes this icon to order on a linden-wood board with two coats of primer. The image is printed directly onto the prepared surface and finished with decorative gold-tone metal leaf (schlagmetal). A certificate bearing the production year and a hanging fixture are attached to the back.
