Description
Icon of Saint Christina the Virgin Martyr
Saint Christina is honored in ancient Christian tradition as a virgin martyr who remained faithful to Christ despite persecution. Accounts of her life developed in different forms and connect her with more than one location, most notably Bolsena in Italy and Tyre in the eastern Mediterranean; their historical details cannot all be reconciled. Her enduring veneration centers on courage, purity of intention, and fidelity to the Gospel.
Iconography and spiritual meaning
The saint holds a cross, the clearest sign of her martyrdom and confession of faith. Her composed expression and formal garments present martyrdom as witness and spiritual victory. The icon therefore speaks not only of suffering but also of freedom of conscience, steadfast hope, and the dignity of a life directed toward Christ.
For prayer and Christian devotion
Suitable for a home prayer corner, chapel, parish room, or personal study, the icon may support prayer for courage under pressure and constancy in difficult decisions. It is also a fitting baptismal, confirmation, or name-day gift for someone named Christina, Christine, or Krystyna.
Crafted on linden wood in Poland
Made to order in Poland on a double-primed linden-wood panel. The image is printed directly onto the prepared wood, and selected areas are decorated with gold-tone schlagmetal. A rear hanger permits display, while the included certificate states the year of production.
