Description

Red satin provides the setting for embroidered wheat ears and a cross. Gold-colored embroidery and gold edging define the finish, giving this chasuble a coordinated appearance for celebrations requiring red vestments. The set includes an inner stole, so both pieces can be prepared together for use.

Embroidery and construction

The wheat and cross motif has an ordered composition suited to liturgical use. Full views show the proportions of the garment, while detailed photographs allow the embroidery, neckline and edging to be examined. Consider the satin surface together with the decorative stitching, especially under the lighting used in the sanctuary.

Liturgical use

In the Roman liturgy, red is associated with the fire of the Holy Spirit, the blood of Christ and the witness of martyrs. It is used on Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Pentecost and specified celebrations of apostles, evangelists and martyrs. Follow the calendar and rubrics for the particular celebration. Color alone does not make every decorative motif equally suitable: consider the embroidery alongside the readings and character of the liturgy.

Choosing the chasuble

Check the final measurement table against the celebrant’s usual vestment. Look at the full photographs to assess the side drape and the position of the cross, and consider whether the embroidery will remain clear in the sanctuary. This design can be considered for Palm Sunday, Good Friday and celebrations of martyrs where red is prescribed.

Wearing and storage

Wear the chasuble over the alb and stole, arranging it symmetrically on the shoulders before entering the sanctuary. Check that the arms can be raised freely and that the central embroidery is not folded. After use, allow the fabric to dry fully before hanging it on a broad hanger that supports the shoulders.

Store the vestment in a dry, ventilated wardrobe, protected from strong light and moisture. Leave enough space to prevent other garments pressing against the embroidery and collar. Follow the supplied care label for cleaning, ironing and refreshing; decorative threads, edging and any velvet elements need particular care.
