Description
Protecting Veil of the Mother of God: history and devotional meaning
The Pokrov, or Protecting Veil, celebrates Mary’s intercession for the Church. The feast grew from the vision of her extending a veil over the faithful as a sign of protection.
Iconography and theology
Mary stands in prayer holding the veil, surrounded by angels and saints. The composition is communal and liturgical, portraying the whole Church gathered beneath heavenly care.
For prayer and sacred spaces
This religious icon is suited to a home prayer corner, chapel, parish office, or as a meaningful Catholic gift. Its purpose is devotional: to support attentive prayer and lead contemplation toward Christ.
Crafted in Poland
Art Christiana produces the icon in Poland on a carefully prepared linden-wood board. The surface is double-primed, enriched with hand-applied metal leaf, and finished with a direct image-transfer process. A certificate and hanging fixture are fitted on the reverse, and the icon is supplied in a protective presentation box.
