Description
Our Lady of Perpetual Help icon with a blue mantle
Our Lady of Perpetual Help, also known as Our Mother of Perpetual Help, is one of the most recognizable Marian icons in Catholic devotion. The historic Cretan image was publicly venerated in Rome by 1499 and was entrusted to the Redemptorists in 1866. This reproduction preserves the central composition while presenting Mary in a deep blue mantle and adding crowns above the Mother and Child. It is a contemporary devotional rendering, not the historic Roman original.
The Virgin of the Passion
The archangels Michael and Gabriel appear beside Mary and carry instruments associated with Christ's Passion. The Child turns toward them and grasps his Mother's hand; the loosened sandal emphasizes the immediacy of his movement and his true humanity. Mary's steady gaze meets the person praying, but her hand and the entire composition direct attention to Christ. The image joins maternal tenderness with the saving mystery of the Cross and Resurrection.
For Marian prayer and Christian devotion
This icon is suited to daily prayer, a home shrine, a chapel or a parish room. It may be chosen for a baptism, First Communion, wedding, anniversary, recovery or house blessing. Christian veneration is directed through the image to the holy persons represented, not to the wooden object, and no devotional item guarantees a favor or outcome.
Crafted on linden wood in Poland
Art Christiana makes this icon in Poland on a carefully prepared linden wood board. The surface receives two primer coats, hand-applied metal leaf and a directly transferred image. A certificate and hanging fixture are fitted on the reverse, and the icon arrives in a protective presentation box.
