Our Lady of Goszewo: a Polish Marian image centered on Christ

Known in Polish as Matka Boża Goszewska, this devotional image presents Mary not as an isolated figure but as the Mother who bears and reveals Jesus Christ. The Goszewo title identifies a Polish form of Marian devotion; because the surviving public documentation of its precise origin is limited, the icon is best read through the features visible in the image rather than through unsupported legends.

Iconography and theological meaning

Mary and the Christ Child wear jeweled crowns and richly patterned robes. Their royal insignia expresses Christ's kingship and Mary's dignity as Theotokos, the Mother of God. Christ holds a closed Gospel book, identifying him as the incarnate Word and teacher. Mary's hand rests near her heart, a gesture of reverence and inward consent that keeps the composition directed toward her Son.

For prayer and Christian devotion

The icon is appropriate for Polish Catholic homes, Marian prayer, family intentions, parish rooms, and chapels. It can support meditation on Mary's words of faith and on Christ as the center of authentic Marian devotion. The crowns and ornate garments should be understood as theological signs of heavenly dignity, not as portraits of worldly power.

Crafted on linden wood in Poland

Art Christiana makes the icon to order in Poland on a double-primed linden-wood board. The image is applied directly to the prepared surface, enhanced with decorative gold-tone schlagmetal, and protected with varnish. A certificate marked with the year of production and a hanging fixture are fitted on the reverse.
