Description
Jerusalem Mother of God icon in a Hodegetria composition
This reproduction presents the Mother of God holding Christ and directing attention toward him in a Hodegetria-like composition. Mary's blue mantle is enriched with gold ornament, while the Child raises his hand in blessing. The title Jerusalem Mother of God is used for more than one Marian image in Christian tradition, so the visible iconography is the safest guide to this particular reproduction. Although the catalog title includes Crowned Type, no crown is visible in the product image; the description therefore follows the artwork rather than assigning an unsupported feature or history.
Mary points to Christ
Hodegetria means She Who Shows the Way. Mary's gesture is theological: she does not retain attention for herself but indicates Christ as the way of salvation. The frontal figures, blessing hand and gold field communicate dignity and liturgical stillness. As with every Christian icon, veneration is directed through the image to the holy persons represented, not to the material object.
For a home prayer space
The icon is suited to Marian devotion, meditation on the Incarnation and a home or chapel prayer corner. It can be chosen as a religious gift for a baptism, First Communion, wedding, anniversary or house blessing. This is a contemporary devotional reproduction and should not be confused with a historic original or used to make claims about one specific Jerusalem prototype.
Crafted on linden wood in Poland
Art Christiana makes this icon in Poland on a carefully prepared linden wood board. The surface receives two primer coats, hand-applied metal leaf and a directly transferred image. A certificate and hanging fixture are fitted on the reverse, and the icon arrives in a protective presentation box.
