Description
Iveron Mother of God: history and devotional meaning
The Iveron Mother of God, also called the Portaitissa or Keeper of the Gate, is especially venerated at the Iviron Monastery on Mount Athos.
Iconography and theology
The composition follows the Hodegetria type. Mary presents Christ, whose scroll and blessing hand identify him as the divine teacher and incarnate Word.
For prayer and sacred spaces
This religious icon is suited to a home prayer corner, chapel, parish office, or as a meaningful Catholic gift. Its purpose is devotional: to support attentive prayer and lead contemplation toward Christ.
Crafted in Poland
Art Christiana produces the icon in Poland on a carefully prepared linden-wood board. The surface is double-primed, enriched with hand-applied metal leaf, and finished with a direct image-transfer process. A certificate and hanging fixture are fitted on the reverse, and the icon is supplied in a protective presentation box.
