Risen Christ Resurrection Icon
The Resurrection is the center of Christian proclamation: Jesus, crucified and buried, was raised from the dead. The Gospels describe the women coming to the tomb, the stone already moved, and an angelic announcement that Christ is not there because he has risen. They also preserve the reaction of the guards and the disciples' movement from fear toward faith. This icon gathers those elements into one liturgical image rather than reproducing a single Gospel verse.

Christ stands above the opened tomb in luminous garments, holding a cross-topped banner as a sign of victory over death. The bright mandorla surrounding his body emphasizes divine glory. Below him, an angel points toward the empty burial place while the myrrh-bearing women approach and the guards fall back or sleep. The composition therefore joins proclamation, witness, and astonishment. It is especially fitting for Easter prayer, but its meaning extends through the year: Christian hope rests not on an abstract idea of renewal, but on the risen Lord.
Crafted on linden wood in Poland
