Description
Blessed John Paul I Icon
Blessed John Paul I was born Albino Luciani in Canale d'Agordo, Italy, in 1912. After service as a priest, bishop of Vittorio Veneto, and Patriarch of Venice, he was elected pope on August 26, 1978. He chose a double papal name in honor of John XXIII and Paul VI. His pontificate lasted only 34 days, yet his clear catechesis, humility, and warm public manner left a lasting impression. Pope Francis beatified him on September 4, 2022.
Papal vesture, glasses, and pectoral cross
The icon preserves recognizable features of Pope Luciani: glasses, a gentle expression, white papal clothing, red mozzetta, and a pectoral cross. The halo identifies his beatified status, while the inscription uses the correct title Blessed. This is a formal sacred portrait, not a scene from his brief pontificate. The gold field sets the modern likeness within the language of devotional art.
Crafted on linden wood in Poland
Art Christiana makes this icon in Poland on a carefully prepared linden wood board. The surface receives two primer coats, hand-applied metal leaf, and a directly transferred image. A certificate and hanging fixture are fitted on the reverse, and the icon arrives in a protective presentation box.
The icon suits a rectory, seminary, parish office, chapel, or home prayer corner. It is a thoughtful gift for priests, catechists, Italians devoted to Pope Luciani, and those reflecting on humility, service, and concise communication of the faith.
