Who was Saint Padre Pio?
Saint Padre Pio of Pietrelcina (1887–1968) was a Capuchin friar, mystic and stigmatist whose life profoundly influenced millions of believers. He bore the stigmata for fifty years, uniting his sufferings with those of Christ and offering them for the salvation of souls. Known for his extraordinary spiritual gifts — including prophecy, bilocation and deep spiritual insight — Padre Pio spent countless hours in the confessional, guiding the faithful with compassion and truth.
He founded the renowned “House for the Relief of Suffering,” a major Catholic hospital dedicated to the sick and the poor. His motto, “Pray, hope and don’t worry,” continues to inspire people worldwide. Today, he is one of the most loved saints of the Church, invoked especially in times of illness, spiritual struggle and emotional hardship.
