Saint Joseph with the Child Jesus: guardian of the Redeemer and model of fatherhood
Saint Joseph was the husband of Mary and the legal father and guardian of Jesus. The Gospels present him as a righteous man who listened to God through dreams, received Mary into his home, protected the Child during the flight into Egypt, and established family life at Nazareth through faithful work. His holiness is expressed less through recorded words than through decisive obedience, practical care, and a fatherly presence that gave the young Jesus safety and belonging.

Joseph is shown close to the Child Jesus, guiding or supporting him with tenderness. The intimate gesture emphasizes that the Incarnation entered the ordinary rhythms of work and family life. A lily at Joseph’s feet represents chastity and undivided fidelity to his vocation.
