Description
Our Lady of the Fulfillment of Desires
This image belongs to a less widely documented Eastern Christian devotion known in Slavonic as Ispolnenie Zhelaniy, the Fulfillment of Desires. The title should be read within Christian prayer: petitions are entrusted to God through Mary's intercession and are discerned according to faith, responsibility, and God's will. It does not mean that every wish will be granted or that possession of the image produces a result.
Church, staff, and scroll
Mary appears alone in a frontal pose, wearing a red veil and purple outer garment. She holds a model of a church, an emblem of care for the Christian community, and a staff that suggests spiritual stewardship. The open scroll carries a prayer text and connects the image with teaching and intercession. Greek abbreviations identify her as the Mother of God, while the gold field removes the figure from ordinary time. The composition is devotional rather than a narrative scene from Scripture.
For prayer and discernment
The icon can support prayer when making an important decision, waiting for an answer, or learning to distinguish a genuine need from a passing wish. It is appropriate for a home prayer corner, parish office, or as a gift to someone beginning a new responsibility. Christian prayer does not replace prudent action, pastoral guidance, or professional advice, and the image carries no guarantee that a requested outcome will occur.
