Our Lady of Knock and the silent apparition of 1879
On August 21, 1879, fifteen official witnesses reported a silent apparition at the parish church in Knock, County Mayo, Ireland. They saw Mary with Saint Joseph and Saint John the Evangelist; nearby stood a Lamb before a cross on an altar, surrounded by angels. They remained in prayer for about two hours in heavy rain. An ecclesiastical commission judged their testimony trustworthy and satisfactory. Knock has since become an international Eucharistic and Marian shrine.
Mary crowned and absorbed in prayer
