The miracle appears in Matthew 14:22-33, Mark 6:45-52 and John 6:16-21. All three accounts show Jesus approaching the disciples across the water during dangerous conditions and telling them not to fear. Matthew alone adds Peter leaving the boat, becoming afraid and sinking, then crying, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately takes his hand. The episode reveals Christ's authority, the disciples' incomplete understanding and faith that depends on him rather than on human confidence.
