Description
Jesus the Good Shepherd: Christ who knows and seeks his flock
The image of Jesus as the Good Shepherd draws especially from John 10, where Christ says that he knows his sheep and lays down his life for them. It also recalls the shepherd who searches for the lost sheep in the Gospel parable. Among the earliest Christian images preserved from antiquity, the shepherd carrying a lamb expressed salvation, protection, and the personal care of Christ for each believer.
Iconography and theological meaning
Jesus carries a lamb across his shoulders and holds a shepherd’s staff. The rescued animal represents the person sought and brought home, while the staff signifies guidance and pastoral authority. The composition unites tenderness with the Cross: the Good Shepherd’s care reaches its fullness in the willing gift of his life.
For prayer and Christian devotion
The Good Shepherd icon is fitting for a home prayer corner, children’s room, chapel, parish office, school, or ministry space. It is a meaningful devotional gift for priests, pastors, catechists, godparents, and anyone praying for guidance or for a loved one who feels lost.
Crafted on linden wood in Poland
Made to order by Art Christiana in Poland, the icon is printed directly on a double-primed linden-wood board and embellished with decorative gold-tone schlagmetal. A hanging fixture and certificate recording the year of production are placed on the reverse.
