Blessed Pauline Jaricot, a lay apostle of the missions
Pauline Marie Jaricot was born in Lyon in 1799. As a Catholic laywoman, she organized networks of prayer and small weekly offerings for missionary work; this initiative led to the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, formally founded in 1822 and later made pontifical. In 1826 she also began the Living Rosary. She died in poverty in 1862 and was beatified in Lyon on May 22, 2022.
