Blessed Sandra Sabattini Icon

Blessed Sandra Sabattini was an Italian laywoman born near Rimini in 1961. As a teenager she joined the Pope John XXIII Community and served people with disabilities and people recovering from addiction. She later studied medicine at the University of Bologna while discerning service as a missionary doctor. Sandra was engaged to be married and lived Christian vocation within ordinary young adult life. She died in 1984 after a road accident and was beatified in Rimini on October 24, 2021.

Young portrait, flowers, and cross

The icon presents Sandra in contemporary clothing, with a white blouse, a small cross necklace, and purple flowers. Her open expression preserves the character of a modern young laywoman rather than placing her in a religious habit. The halo and the inscription Blessed indicate her ecclesial status. The flowers can be read as a sign of youthful life and service, but they are not a documented personal attribute.

Crafted on linden wood in Poland

Art Christiana makes this icon in Poland on a carefully prepared linden wood board. The surface receives two primer coats, hand-applied metal leaf, and a directly transferred image. A certificate and hanging fixture are fitted on the reverse, and the icon arrives in a protective presentation box.

The icon suits a youth room, Catholic school, university chaplaincy, medical office, parish center, or home prayer corner. It is especially relevant for students, engaged couples, health care trainees, volunteers, and communities serving vulnerable people.
