Jesus, Mary, and Joseph direct attention to the years of ordinary family life at Nazareth. The Gospels say little about this long period, but Christian teaching sees Christ’s obedience to Mary and Joseph and his humble work as part of the mystery of redemption. Each figure bears a halo; Jesus raises one hand while extending the other toward his parents, linking blessing with the bonds of family communion.
