Blessed Michael McGivney and the Knights of Columbus
Blessed Michael Joseph McGivney (1852-1890) was a Connecticut parish priest who founded the Knights of Columbus in New Haven in 1882. The association combined Catholic fellowship with practical support for families facing hardship after illness or the death of a breadwinner. McGivney was beatified in Hartford in 2020.
