Description
Blessed Fulton Sheen appears in a bust-length portrait with a magenta cape, skullcap and pectoral cross against a gold-tone background. Unlike the composition showing him with a book and raised hand, this version concentrates on his face and episcopal dress. The halo and inscription establish the devotional character of the image.
The archbishop and the daily Holy Hour
Fulton J. Sheen (1895-1979) was a Catholic bishop and preacher known for bringing Christian teaching to radio and television audiences. Alongside his public ministry, he maintained a daily Holy Hour before the Blessed Sacrament. His Eucharistic devotion connects the public preacher with the quieter practice of sustained personal prayer.
Sheen was beatified on September 24, 2026. He is honored as Blessed; beatification should not be confused with canonization.
Reading the portrait
The pectoral cross and episcopal colors identify his ministry without requiring a narrative scene. The close framing gives prominence to the person rather than to a particular episode from his life. No book, quotation or teaching gesture is included in this version.
A devotional portrait for readers and clergy
The icon can be displayed near spiritual reading in a study, a parish office or a home prayer corner. It can also be given to a priest or seminarian familiar with Sheen's writings. Its connection with his Eucharistic devotion offers a subject for reflection on the relationship between prayer and public ministry.
Made in Poland on linden wood
Art Christiana makes this icon to order on a linden-wood board with two coats of primer. The image is printed directly onto the prepared surface and finished with decorative gold-tone metal leaf (schlagmetal). A certificate bearing the production year and a hanging fixture are attached to the back.
