This beautiful sacred image was created on an alder board using a special serigraphy technique, which provides the icon with a unique color and optimal durability. Finished by hand gilding and varnished. On its back there is an embossed and gilded certificate of authenticity.
St. Gregory was born a patrician family, his great-grandfather was Pope Felix III, he was the son of Saint Sylwia and Gordian Anicius. He received a thorough education, knew Greek, Latin, grammar and rhetoric. In 575. he became the prefect of Rome, and after the death of Pope Pelagius II due to the plague, he was elected his successor. Saint Gregory placed his hopes for the development of Christianity in missions, he argued that inaction could only lead to the fall and denial of faith. Main goals of his mission were: Anglo-Saxons, Gauls, Lombards and Iberian Visigoths. His pontificate lasted 15 years, at the beginning of his reign, Saint Gregory described himself as "a servant of God's servants", removed unworthy officials, parish priests, priests, and preached God's Word every day. He supported all the needy and the poor. Saint Gregory is the patron saint of England, singers, choirs, students and teachers.
