Known as the Curé of Ars, he devoted his ministry to preaching, catechesis, the Eucharist and the sacrament of Reconciliation. Pilgrims came to Ars to seek his counsel and receive confession.

Vianney was canonized in 1925 and proclaimed patron of parish priests in 1929. His example links pastoral work with prayer and patient attention to individual people. The Church celebrates his memorial on August 4, the anniversary of his death. His story is therefore especially relevant to prayer for priests and for those discerning a priestly vocation.

This portrait shows an elderly priest with white hair and hands joined in prayer. Gold-colored patterned vestments lie over white sleeves, and a circular halo frames his head. The English inscription names Saint John Vianney; the image does not depict a particular episode from his life. It can be placed in a rectory, seminary or home prayer space, or given for an ordination or priestly anniversary as a reminder of the daily work of a parish pastor.

Made in Poland on linden wood

Art Christiana makes this icon to order on a linden-wood board with two coats of primer. The image is printed directly onto the prepared surface and finished with decorative gold-tone metal leaf (schlagmetal). A certificate bearing the production year and a hanging fixture are attached to the back.
